I ♥ Faces

I haven't participated in the weekly challenge at I ♥ Faces since my blog crashed last November, but have been keeping up with the website each week. I still haven't built my blog back the way I want it to be, but couldn't resist posting one of my very favorite pictures for this week's challenge: "Dramatic B&W" Photos.

I took this picture last summer on the 4th of July. My little sweetie fishing on the pond. It feels like a very "Andy Griffith" moment to me and I just LOVE it!!!

There are so many great photos to view at I ♥ Faces, so be sure to click here and check them all out!

Friday Fun

What better way to start a Friday than to make cookies?!

Joshua loves helping me in the kitchen, but after the preparing and cookie cutting is done, he really loves to play and make up adventures!

Today poor Batgirl was trapped in the cookie dough by the dreaded red fire-breathing dragon and had to be rescued.

After the brave rescue by Batman, the entire gang of SuperFriends had a parade!

Hope everyone has a fun day!

It's been cold too long....

Yes, I know, I am the one who keeps saying, "I just want one more snow"...well Joshua and I keep saying that.

Last week we did get our one last snow, but it was so unfair because I was at work and unable to get home and enjoy it. Joshua and Ronnie did enjoy the snow! They were able to build a big snowman and they called me every hour asking if I could come home yet.

Fast forward to this past weekend and the weather warmed up into the 60's. After his bath on Saturday night, Joshua wanted to put on his new Batman pajamas, so we got them out of his dresser and put them on. As I pulled the pajama top down over his head and he stuck his arms through, he proclaimed, "HEY! Somebody cut my sleeves!!" I explained to him that these new pajamas were short sleeved pajamas at which he said, "I want my long sleeves back!"

So, it's been cold long enough....we need to move on into Spring so we can get used to our 'cut sleeves'!

It was so funny! Funny how children notice the littlest things that seem so ordinary to us. Makes me realize that I need to pay more attention to the little things....

Happy Wednesday!

When it rains.....

.....it pours.....and sometimes it floods...

Anyone who is not on city sewer, probably has a good story about the exciting adventures of septic tanks. Ours is probably no different, except that it's never happened to us before (and I hope it never happens again). Fortunately it was nothing "major", but because of all of the rain that we've had over the last several weeks, one of our field lines flooded.

Ronnie is the one who noticed the flooding in the yard and had someone come check it out. Me, I was busy planning our long-awaited vacation to Disney World (or Mickey's house as Joshua calls it). Even after Ronnie told me about the initial concern, I was still planning. I had no idea that the cost of fixing anything related to a septic tank could amount to the cost of a Disney vacation! But it does....

Anyway, the cost of a Disney vacation and lots of digging later, our field lines are fixed and we are again saving for our long-awaited Disney vacation. I am very thankful that Ronnie saw the problem to begin with and it wasn't worse or cost us any more. In addition to this, we may be getting a new washing machine. Did you know that a washing machine that is not "energy star" or "energy efficient" uses about 55 gallons of water for one load of laundry? So, we are researching the energy efficient washers and hope to buy one soon.

Joshua, of course, thought it was so much fun to play in the dirt. He just played, and ran, and jumped, and rolled, and was filthy from head to toe! (oh...to be 4 years old!) One of the guys even let him help drive the backhoe.
