I ♥ Faces

<

I ♥ Faces is a photography site and each week there is new challenge and theme. Although I'm in no way a professional photographer, everyone who reads this blog knows that I love to take pictures, especially of Joshua. This week the theme is "Reflections" so I had to submit one of my very favorite pictures of Joshua.

This was taken a few years ago when we took him for his first haircut. After his haircut and we were getting ready to leave, I snapped this picture at the front door of the shop. That precious look of innocence looking out on the big world; I can't even imagine what he might have been thinking.

Be sure to check out the I ♥ Faces website for more entries and lots of information.

A lesson that I keep learning

Joshua and I gave Ronnie an Ipod for Christmas. He was really enjoying it. Although I don't know much about them, I was hoping to learn more and possibly get one for me and Joshua at some point. One evening recently he was listening to his Ipod and when he was finished, put it away. I didn't see where he put it....

Well, you know how your mother always taught you to empty your pockets before you put things in the laundry basket? I think my mother also taught me to check the pockets before you put anything in the washing machine. Apparently I didn't pay much attention to either one of those lessons. One day recently Ronnie left his jacket on the coat rack and I decided it needed a washing...it had been awhile since it was washed. When I opened the washing machine and started putting the clothes in the dryer, I saw this white cord like thing. I asked myself "what in the world is that?" and as I continued to pull it out of the washing machine I realized it was the earbuds to the Ipod. I thought to myself, "Now how did those get in here?" I didn't expect to find the Ipod as well. So I just put them on top of the dryer and continued to move clothes from the washing machine to the dryer. At the bottom of the washing machine, I saw this little metal thing...Ronnie's Ipod!!! Aaagggghhhhh!

I quickly picked it up out of the washing machine and "gently" laid it on the kitchen counter. I didn't know what to do, so I tried to turn it on. Nothing. I decided I better call Ronnie and tell him what I had done. So I called him at work and said " Where do you keep your Ipod?" That's when he told me he kept it in the pocket of that jacket. I said, "Oh. Did you really like it?" All he could say was "Oh, no. Where's the Ipod?" I told him, "Well, right now it's on the kitchen counter, but I just fished it out of the bottom of the washing machine. And it won't turn on." Well, he took it in stride and said, "Well, now you know where I like to keep it."

After we hung up, I got on the internet and started Googling and one of the first things I read was "if you drop the Ipod in water, don't try to turn it on immediately" - Great. After a little more searching I actually found an Ipod doctor. His website claimed that he had repaired many Ipods that had been through the washing machine. So I emailed him my story and he told me where to send it to him. I did and a few days later we got the Ipod back. It did work for a few days, but Ronnie said the battery runs down after just a few minutes of use. I don't know if we can get a new battery, but I guess I will Google about that next. Lesson learned - always know where your husband keeps his Ipod. Oh - and check the pockets before you put anything in the washing machine.

We spent last Saturday at Macedonia Primitive Baptist Church. We enjoyed visiting with everyone there. We spent Friday night with Will and Allison and Joshua had a great time playing with Billy and John Nathan. While playing in the church yard, Joshua collected a few rocks and put them in his pants pockets, of course. No, I didn't check his pockets before I washed them and needless to say, we had a washing machine full of rocks. Now have homemade stone-washed jeans. Lesson learned - again - check the pockets before you put anything in the washing machine.

I can only imagine, what I will find in Joshua's pockets a few years from now. I bet I will be afraid to check the pockets for fear of finding bugs and creepy crawly things.

Another lesson I learned this week is that a red Batman and a batch of rice krispy treats can make any day a great day!

Our Anniversary

Today is our 7th wedding anniversary. Wow! It just doesn't seem possible. At dinner last night, Ronnie said, "Just think, seven years ago we were driving to Gatlinburg ......scared to death!" I laughed because he is right. We were scared. But I wouldn't change it,. Well, one thing I would change - I wish I would've met Ronnie 10 maybe 20 years earlier. Marrying Ronnie was the best thing I've ever done and the best thing we've done together is Joshua.

God has blessed me beyond measure with a wonderful husband and a precious child and all I prefer to do is spend my days with them.

Happy Anniversary Ronnie! I love you more and more every day.

Fun days to share

Our household should not be so busy, but lately it seems I just don't have enough hours in a day to do all that I want to do. Therefore, I have lots and lots of pictures that I have taken over the last few weeks, but no time to upload them to the blog. Here are a few pictures of our fun days:

Fun with friends

Tying my shoe

See how I can tie my shoe!

Making a cherry tree

Joshua loves biscuits (he calls them BBs), but he has always preferred canned over homemade. Recently we were out of canned so I asked him if wanted to make biscuits. He was excited about that and I was able to get this video of him making BBs:
