Birthday and Parade

I've let the week get by again without getting some pictures posted.

Here are some pictures and a short video from Ronnie's birthday:

A few pictures and a short video from the parade last weekend.

Needless to say, Joshua had lots and lots of fun at the parade and festival. Unfortunately, the camera battery was too low to get all the pictures I wanted. We can't wait until next year!

I wish I had a picture

On the days that I have to work, I leave the house before Ronnie and Joshua. Usually Ronnie calls me once he has dropped Joshua off, just to let me know they're okay.

One morning this week just after I had gotten to work, I received a call from Ronnie. It was already 8:30, the time for Ronnie to be at work, so I figured it was the usual morning check in. Ronnie said, "Hey! Guess where I am?" I said, "I don't know, work?" He said, "No, we haven't left the house yet. We're still at home." Then worried, I asked, "Why? What's wrong?" Automatically I think something is wrong. Then Ronnie begins telling me about the start of his day.

On a normal morning, while Ronnie is taking his shower and getting ready for work, Joshua finishes up his breakfast and watches cartoons. For whatever reason on this morning, Joshua decides to do a little exploring. I have a cart on wheels in our bedroom where I store craft supplies, i.e. paints, paper, thread, cross stitching stuff, etc. Joshua has never even looked at this cart. As a precaution, several months ago, we turned it around to face the wall, just in case he decided to check it out. Anyway, Ronnie was taking his shower, not knowing anything was going on out in the bedroom, until he steps out of the tub and Joshua comes running in, smiling and saying, "Look (which actually sounds like wook) Daddy, blue!!!" Ronnie said all he could think to say was, "No son, that's green."

Joshua was covered in paint from head to toe. We finger paint all the time, so why he decided to pour it on his head...who knows? But Ronnie said Joshua had it in his hair, his ears, all over his clothes. He had poured it on the floor and there were little footprints all around the bedroom. Fortunately, we have hard wood floors in our house and didn't have to try to get this paint out of the carpet. I, of course, started laughing and asked "Did you get a picture?" But no, there lies a difference between us, I would have grabbed the camera and Ronnie grabbed a towel and started cleaning everything up. So, although I don't have a picture that I would have loved to had put on the blog, I do have a funny story and surely lots of future photo opportunities as Joshua seems to think up all kinds of things to keep us busy!!! He is so much fun!

So on that note, today is Ronnie's birthday. Joshua and I love you so much and we hope you have a wonderful birthday!!!

Mommy's baby

If I've said it once, I've said it 100 times....the days pass much too quickly. It's not like we are really doing anything that exciting around here, but the last few weeks have flown by again. This week, we received two college graduation announcements and one high school graduation announcement. As I was reading these announcements, I took a trip down memory lane thinking about my niece, Elizabeth. She was born the year that I graduated from high school and now she's graduating from college! How is that even possible? Once a little girl, now a young woman venturing out into this big world.

These thoughts and events also make me realize that I want to enjoy every day with Joshua. He is growing up so fast, and he's not a little baby anymore. Joshua now tells me that he is "daddy's boy" and "mommy's baby". I'm sure that I will always feel that way, no matter what age. Joshua is such a joy and he brings so much happiness to our home. I wish I could record every minute of the day with him because it just seems to slip away and I wonder where did the day go.

Of course, some members of my family will tell you that it seems I have a camera on Joshua every minute of the day. And, for the most part that is true. I do try to capture a few pictures or videos most every day. But what better way to help me with my own failing memory than to have some of the best memories of my life in print and video?

So, here is one of the latest video clips....Joshua and daddy working on a lawn mower...
