A funny for the week

Because of my work schedule and commute, Ronnie drops Joshua off at school each morning and picks him up in the afternoon. This past week, Ronnie told Joshua he would take him to Dairy Queen after school one day.

On Tuesday, I had to work late, so Ronnie decided to take Joshua that evening on the way home from school. As they pulled into the parking lot, Ronnie asked Joshua, "Do you want to go in or drive through and take it home?" Joshua said he wanted to go in. Ronnie then told him, "Now when we go in you need to behave, ok?" Joshua said, "Ok daddy, I'll behave. That means no running and no picking boogers." That's my boy!

A day full of friends

Today we spent the day with wonderful friends at church and a birthday party.

Elders Stan Lee and Will Martin were the visiting preachers today at Mt. Paran's annual meeting. They were both very blessed by the Lord to deliver beautiful, comforting messages. We are looking forward to another wonderful day tomorrow. I hope to have some pictures to post tomorrow. I snapped a few shots today, but forgot to get the camera out early in the day.

After church today, we were invited to a birthday party at the John Deere showroom! It was a really cool place to have a party.

The birthday boy, Andrew

I think Joshua will want one of these soon!

I ♥ Faces

This week at I ♥ Faces it's Beach Week! The beach is our favorite vacation spot and wish we could go more than once a year. This picture is from our trip a few weeks ago. It seems we were there during the season of baby crabs. There were literally hundreds of little baby crabs all over the beach. Joshua didn't want to walk much on the beach and spent alot of time on Ronnie's shoulders. This picture was taken late in the afternoon after a long day of playing on the beach and at the pool. It is one of my favorite pictures from our trip.

Be sure to check out all the other great Beach Week photos at the I ♥ Faces website.

A reminder

As I was driving to work yesterday, my heart was heavy and I just didn't want to go. I knew it was going to be a rough day because of certain meetings and deadlines at the office. I wanted to stay home and spend the day with Joshua playing and having fun and forget about those meetings and deadlines.

But as I was driving I looked up and saw the faintest glimpse of a rainbow in the clouds. Tears instantly came to my eyes and I thought, "Thank you Lord for remembering me." Just seeing that rainbow was a great reminder that I should lean on the promises of God. The Lord has been so good to me and I know that I don't thank Him enough for the His many blessings.

I didn't have my camera, but I snapped a few pictures with my cell phone.

The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower. Psalm 18:2

So You Think You Can Dance

I've always loved dance and participated in dance and, of course, wanted to be a ballerina when I grew up. Ronnie will tell you that "So You Think You Can Dance" is my favorite show to watch. Last night was no exception. The dancers, Melissa and Ade, have been my favorite dancers since the beginning of the season. Dance can tell so many stories and evoke so many emotions and that is why I have always loved it. This piece was so beautiful and so moving. I just wanted to share it.

One of those days

Ever have one of those days where you realize, albeit a little too late, that you should have stayed in bed?

I should know by now that when I oversleep and have to rush around so I'm not late for work that something is bound to happen. Well, that's the way my morning started today. I overslept, not much, but enough to make me catapult out of bed, which was actually the couch (for those who know Joshua's favorite place to sleep). So I'm trying to make up time and that always makes me think about the Nascar announcers. Why? I don't know but I think it's something they say about the drivers chasing the leader. Anyway, so I was rushing around trying to make up time and was actually making progress. I usually try to get out of the house by 7:15, but this morning I was pushing to get out by 7:30. I got myself dressed and laid out Joshua's clothes and kissed Ronnie and Joshua bye and headed for the door.

In my hands I had my purse and two bags of things to take to work and then, of course, I remembered something else I had to carry with me. So I headed back down the hall, grabbed that box, and started out again. Ronnie was on the phone, so I waved as I passed by his study door. I kissed Joshua one more time and went out the door.

So, let's see, I've walked out this door umpteen times now so even though my hands were full and my vision was blocked, I never thought about needing to look where I was going. Why would I? Then all of sudden, as I stepped off the landing into the carport, my foot (which was in high heels) landed on something other than the ground and I was going down...in verryyy slooowww motion. My brain, which was still in fast forward from the running late ritual and was focused on getting to the car and to work on time, could not comprehend what was happening. It is the strangest feeling I've ever had. Falling ... and not knowing why ... or where I was going to land.

Eventually I did land. Hard on my behind. And my head bounced off the side of the house. It was a rather jolting blow to my body .... and my pride. I jumped up quickly and realized what had happened. Someone, who will remain nameless, left his shoes beside the steps in the carport. Granted this nameless person does this all the time, but for whatever reason, this time I didn't see them. So that was what I stepped on which made my ankle turn over and dropped me to the ground. It was at this point that I decided to drop everything that I had in my hands. - Wow! What great timing and reflexes I have!

I opened the storm door and started back in the house. Ronnie opened the door for me. He was still on the phone and didn't even see what had happened, but I just ran past him, ran to the bathroom, looked at myself in the mirror, made sure I didn't have blood gushing out of the back of my head or dirt on my pants, and ran back out to the car. Ronnie followed me out to the car (still on the phone) and decided to help me carry my stuff to the car. It was at this point that he realized I had tears in my eyes, that I was limping and holding the back of my head. He hurriedly got off the phone and said - "What happened?" Choking back the tears that wanted to flow down my cheeks I mumbled, "I fell down." He looked over at the steps, saw the nameless person's shoes, looked back at me and sheepishly said "Hmm, wonder how those got there?"

I went on to work and was just a little late. The girl that I work with was already in the office when I arrived. Apparently I looked just like I felt because the first thing she said to me was, "What happened to you?" The tears welled up again, but I giggled a little as I told her "I fell down this morning coming out of the house." She choked back a giggle herself, got up from her desk, walked over to me with her arms wide open and said, "Does someone need a hug?" Of course I then laughed out loud and accepted her comforting hug.

Although I'm a little sore this evening and have a bump on the back of my head, I'm okay and have laughed several times to myself throughout the day. I have even laughed out loud while trying to type this post and Joshua keeps asking me, "Momma, what is so funny?" Then I just laugh again and tell him that I fell down this morning and now I only wish we had security cameras around the house so I could see how funny it REALLY was!!!
