A crisp fall day

As you can see, we've had a little bit of a blog crash. It seems the server where my graphics and photos were stored had a problem and I'm not able to retrieve them. No worries though....I am working on a new layout, but it is on the back burner as so many other projects take priority this time of year.

I am going to post pictures from Joshua's party but just haven't had a chance to get them all edited. Between me and my sister taking pictures and video that day, I think we had about 400 photos! What? Yes, it was only a few hours, but we both enjoy lots of pictures!

Anyway, something easier for today....Joshua and I had to run an errand this morning and when we got home there were so many pretty leaves falling in our yard. I remember when I was little raking leaves just so we could jump in the pile of leaves and then do it again and again and again. It was many hours of pure fun! Anyway when we got out of the car Joshua and I ran inside to get his rake and started making a pile of leaves. He had never raked leaves or jumped in a pile of leaves so this was a new adventure for him. And boy did he ever have fun!

Off to attempt making a ghost costume....Happy Halloween!

Joshua's 4th Birthday

Joshua's 4th birthday was yesterday! He had a great time at the fire station and playing with all of his friends.

The 1st soccer game

Our first soccer game was rained out, but we were able to play this past Tuesday. The first game was fun and funny. The games are played with three players from each team, but no goalie and no referee, the coaches play this role, and apparently no out of bounds.

The team did really well. We are so proud of all of the players! We also don't keep an official score, but of course, the parents were keeping score and we won our first game!

Joshua ran super fast, chased the ball, kicked the ball, helped out his team and only picked a few flowers and weeds along the way. He was awesome!

So many posts, too few hours

The last few weeks have just been a whirlwind...again. Joshua and I were able to spend a few days with my mom, sister and niece as well as much of our extended family in Mississippi. That is always a fun time. The only bad part about that week was that it was the week that rained so we didn't get to go outside very much. We found lots of other fun things to do:

From the moment we arrived, Joshua nicknamed Alyssa, "Princess". When Alyssa started ballet dancing for us, Joshua walked over, put his arm around her and asked, "Princess, do you need a Prince?" Cutest thing ever! Melted all the hearts in the room.

Hey! I'm supposed to be the winner!

On Friday of that week, the rain held off long enough for us to visit the Buffalo Park. That was really cool with lots and lots of animals.

But he loved these little goats. They were really cute and kept jumping out of their pen.

We really had a great time visiting with our cousins that we don't get to see very often.

I wish we could get together more often.

If only there were more hours in a day.

We are looking forward to a visit from Hazy, Cindy and Alyssa in a few weeks for Joshua's 4th birthday! WOW! Can you believe my baby will be 4?

The Lions

It was a night of fast and furious running and kicking and laughing at the soccer field. Tonight was Joshua's first soccer practice. He has been sooooo excited about playing soccer, especially since his best buddy, CJ, is on his team!

First on the list of things to accomplish tonight was to name the team. After many, many suggestions, the kids all decided they wanted to be the Lions....roooaaaarrrrrr!

After practice, we headed over to the sporting goods store to outfit the little pro with the proper gear. Now he is ready to take over the field!
All in all it was a great first practice and Joshua only picked the ball up with his hands 10 or 15 times! Yeah, we're still working on that.

Can't wait til our next practice and the first game in a few weeks!

Minnehaha Falls

We had a beautiful day spent with a very special family - Chris, Kathi & James. Chris & Kathi are the experts on waterfalls in the state and today they took us on a short hike to a beautiful waterfall in Tallulah. Joshua was so very, very excited to actually get to see a REAL waterfall!

The happy group We had a relaxing and refreshing day. When we got back to the car this afternoon, Joshua looked at us and said, "I had a great day!" And well, we all had a great day!

A trip to the dentist

A visit to the dentist can be scary for most anyone, but for a little one going for the first time it can be an especially scary event. Fortunately we have a very kind and gentle dentist, Dr. White. It also helps that Dr. White's son, Jared, is one of Joshua's buddies at school. So even though Joshua was a little nervous yesterday, when Dr. White walked into the room, Ronnie asked Joshua, "Who is this?" and Joshua answered with a big smile, "Jared's daddy!"

New boots

Last year, around Joshua's birthday we bought him his first pair of "cowboy boots". Originally we went to the store looking for a new pair of shoes, but when he saw those boots, that was all he wanted. He was so very, very excited about them and wore them home from the store and then wore them everywhere!

October 2008Eventually as the weather warmed up, we convinced him to wear his crocs or tennis shoes, but he continued to wear those boots whenever he could. By early summer, he had really outgrown the boots, but would shove that little foot in and wear them anyways.

Last Friday night we went back to that same store to buy Joshua a new pair of boots. Sure enough the store had them and we bought them. (I know his foot really was shoved into the old pair because he went from an 8 last year to a 10 this year!) Again, he was so excited!

And wore them home from the store again.
And wore them to church on Sunday!

And will probably wear them everywhere.
