Pirates! Argh!

It was a great week of acting camp.  Joshua and Tristin had a blast!

There were about 25 children in the camp, ages 6-12.  The instructor, Chris Parker, divided them into groups of 5.  Joshua's group had five boys, ages 6-11.  The first couple of days of camp were to learn about the stage, backstage, props, and how to come up with characters.  Then each group worked on developing their own skit.  Chris helped each group clean up the skit,  keep the storyline moving, and keep the skit to about five minutes.

Joshua's group worked on a Pirates theme and I think it turned out great!  Of course, it was the best of the night!

We look forward to camp again next summer!

Star Student

If you haven't heard me say it before, Joshua is the smartest boy in the world!

I'm proud of him for so many reasons, but just to name a few today:

1. He was named Star Student of the Month for his class

2. He's gotten an E+ on his spelling test for the last 4 weeks

3. He's very sweet with his baby sister

4. He's a great artist

5. He has a very tender, loving heart

.... I could go on and on, but let me just say that I love Joshua to infinity and beyond and I'm so very, very proud of him.

Here's an example of his art work:

A couple of weeks ago, Mrs. D asked the class to make a night and day book for a few days when Venus would be passing close to the moon. Joshua was so excited about this homework and worked very hard on it.

Perspective

Joshua has art class once a week in Kindergarten. I've always thought he was a great artist, but this goes beyond my thinking. They are working on lessons in perspective.

This is a drawing that Joshua made that depicts perspective.

Perspective as defined in the dictionary is:

1. a technique of depicting volumes and spatial relationships on a flat surface.
2. a visible scene, especially one extending to a distance
3. the state of existing in space before the eye:
4. the state of one's ideas, the facts known to one, etc

It is his perspective of my office which is down at the end of a long hall. I love that he drew me and him in the picture, but not only that, he drew us leaving the office! I love that perspective of any day at the office....at the end of a long day, I always get to leave and go home to my wonderful family.

I Heart Faces - By The Book

When I saw the the photo challenge this week was called "By The Book", I immediately thought of this photo. I borrowed this idea from a photographer friend a few years ago. I love the idea and I love this picture of my sweet boy!

Happy 6th Birthday, Joshua!

To my sweet Joshua,

The years have passed much too quickly and you are growing up much too fast. You are so smart, and kind, and loving, and handsome. Between Pre-K graduation, a new baby sister and beginning Kindergarten, this year you have experienced so much and your life has changed so much and I am so proud of you! It has been an eventful, exciting year!

You are a wonderful big brother to Sarah Beth. She loves you so much! Her eyes light up every time she sees you.

Daddy and I love you so much, to infinity and beyond! Although you are not a baby anymore, you will always be my baby.

Happy birthday, my sweet baby!

Love,
Mommy

Weatherman

Joshua came home from school today talking about how when he grows up he wants to be either a weatherman or a lego artist.

I think he's great at both! And I believe he can accomplish anything that he sets his mind to.

Look at me, I'm 3 (months old that is)...

Already three months old! Sarah Beth is changing every day. She's so happy and talkative. She absolutely loves Joshua. When we pick him up at school each afternoon, she smiles so big when he gets in the car. She is so happy to see him.

Sarah Beth is getting so strong. She already wants to stand up in your lap and does not want to lay back anymore. She only wants to sit up and see what is going on.

It's still hard to believe that is was three months ago that we got the call that she was born. That day seems so long ago, yet it seems like only yesterday.

Such a happy girl!
Love my big hair bow!

Love my big brother, Joshua!

It's a BIG DAY!

It's a day for me full of happiness and a little sadness. My baby boy has grown up much too quickly and I can't believe today is his first day of Big K.

I remember holding him for the very first time and cyring tears of happiness. I was so happy and just couldn't believe he was mine. I try to enjoy every moment that I spend with him and remember thinking that this day, the first day of Kindergarten, was so far away.

Now that the day is here, all I can think is, "where did the time go?"

Joshua was so excited this morning. He told Sarah Beth that he would be gone for a little while today, but that he would be back. He also told her that he would be learning how to read so that he can read books to her. My child, my Joshua, is so very sweet.

Joshua ran in and gave Ms. D a great big hug!

I didn't cry at school, but the minute I got back in the car, the tears started flowing. The tears continued to flow as I walked back into the house. The house is so quiet and still.

It will take me a while to get used to Big K, but I'm so glad that he is so excited. I know he will do great!

A first for Sarah Beth

Sarah Beth is 11 weeks old. She is such a happy baby and is getting so strong. She loves her tummy time and can hold her head up so high. She even rolled over a few times from her tummy to her back. This video shows her first roll over. I'm sure it is the first of many more fun and exciting days at our house!
